Menopause and Female Health Training

Our courses will help delegates create a culture where women feel more confident to discuss issues that have been stigmatised for too long – with damaging consequences.

Menopause is a fact of life for half the working population

And yet we’re only just starting to talk about it in the workplace. Despite the fact that women over the age of 50 are now the fastest-growing group in the workforce, we’ve still got a way to go to remove the stigma associated with menopause.

According to the CIPD, three out of five working women between the ages of 45 and 55 who are experiencing menopause symptoms say it has a negative impact on them at work, with well-documented symptoms including reduced ability to concentrate, mood swings, anxiety, memory loss and increased stress.

As a responsible employer, manager or colleague, it’s crucial to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively and provide support during this phase.

Why raise awareness of Menopause?

Aside from the fact that supporting your employees is the right thing to do, there are compelling business reasons why it pays to enhance your workplace support for women experiencing menopause. It can reduce absenteeism and staff turnover, as well as giving employees the confidence to seek support so they can be more effective in their roles.

According to the CIPD, a third of menopausal women have taken sick leave because of their symptoms, with only a quarter feeling able to tell their manager why. Meanwhile, around 25% of women contemplate leaving their job due to menopause-related issues, with the cost to replace them equating to about 150% of their salary. Offering support in instances where menopausal symptoms interfere with work can have a significant positive impact on your culture, retention and bottom line.

Our menopause training

We understand that conversations about menopause can be challenging. The fear of saying the wrong thing or not knowing how to approach the topic can create barriers to providing the support that employees need.

That’s why we offer dedicated menopause workplace training, with courses designed to empower employers, managers, HR, Mental Health First Aiders, wellbeing champions and employees with the knowledge and tools to navigate sensitive discussions with confidence.

Through our training, participants will:

  1. Feel more confident and comfortable when addressing menopause-related topics in the workplace.
  2. Gain an understanding of the legal protections in place for both employers and employees regarding menopause (which could help to prevent avoidable tribunal cases).
  3. Learn practical, cost-effective adjustments that can improve the work experience for colleagues going through menopause.
  4. Discover resources to signpost colleagues towards support when needed.

By giving your teams a greater understanding of menopause you’ll support them to thrive at work and in life, and create a more supportive, more attractive workplace.
