Introducing the Association of Mental Health First Aiders

Introducing the Association of Mental Health First Aiders

The past few years have been challenging for everyone. In a world where political upheaval, social unrest, and global uncertainty have become the norm, the need to support mental health and wellbeing has never been more important. In fact, according to a recent report by CIPD, workplace absences have hit their highest level in over a decade, urging employers to prioritise mental health.

At The Thrive Team, we understand the importance of creating psychologically safe cultures and supporting the mental wellbeing of individuals and teams. That’s why we are proud to deliver MHFA England’s Mental Health First Aid training, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to support others and promote positive mental health.

And now, we have even more exciting news to share. MHFA England®️ has launched the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®️ – England’s first and only membership body dedicated to empowering the MHFAider®️ community.

Association of Mental Health First Aiders

The Association of Mental Health First Aiders is a groundbreaking initiative with a mission to grow and empower the largest community of Mental Health First Aiders. By providing ongoing support and resources beyond the initial certification, the Association aims to transform how we talk about and support mental health.

As the only MHFA training provider to offer continuous support, MHFA England is uniquely positioned to lead this movement. The Thrive Team are thrilled to be part of this journey, working alongside MHFA England to deliver high-quality training and support to our clients.

Benefits for MHFAiders

Joining the Association of Mental Health First Aiders offers a range of exclusive benefits to support MHFAiders in their vital role.

Members gain access to:

  • A resource library filled with toolkits, guidance, animations, and core mental health concepts
  • A signposting database (Hub of Hope) to find additional mental health services
  • Reminders for wellbeing check-ins with those they are supporting
  • 24/7 text support through Shout for advice and reassurance
  • Exclusive webinars to expand mental health knowledge
  • The latest version of the digital MHFA manual
  • A monthly newsletter with updates and exclusive resources

Moreover, members become part of an inclusive community where they can collaborate, connect, and share experiences with like-minded individuals. This collective power has the potential to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and drive positive change in how we approach mental health.

The Impact of MHFA Training

Since 2007, MHFA England has trained over half a million Mental Health First Aiders, and the impact has been remarkable. According to a 2023 MHFAider insights survey:

  • 91% of learners say they have a better understanding of mental health following their MHFA England course
  • 97% of MHFAiders felt proud of their role
  • 90% would recommend the support and benefits to other MHFAiders

These statistics demonstrate the effectiveness of MHFA training in building knowledge, confidence, and skills to support mental wellbeing.
